Day and Sunset Sailing Tours on San Francisco Bay

Enjoy the adventure of sailing on the San Francisco Bay! These relaxing afternoon cruises are the perfect way to see the city’s famous skyline and top sightseeing attractions. On these San Francisco boat tours, you sail past Alcatraz Island, under the Golden Gate Bridge, and along the iconic waterfront.

Consistently voted among the top five things to do in San Francisco, sailing on San Francisco Bay combines the romance of The City with the adventure of the sea. If you’re a romantic at heart, join us for the Sunset Sailing Cruise. Watch the sunset from beneath the Golden Gate Bridge and then sail along the picturesque San Francisco night skyline! If you want to combine a sunset sailing experience with a trip to one of the city’s most famous places, check out our Alcatraz Day Tour and San Francisco Bay Sunset Cruise.

If you’re looking for some added adventure, try out the deck trampoline (you’ve been warned, you may get wet!). Super-safe for families and kids, the netting offers the exhilarating feeling of having the waves rush under your feet. But it’s also comfortable for simply lounging in the sun. When you’re ready for a break from the wind, come inside the protected cabin where you can purchase soda, beer, and wine from the bar.

These sailing catamarans give a uniquely stable and quiet ride without the noise of engines—you’ll be amazed at the speed wind in your sails can give you!

Why We Love This San Francisco Boat Tour

“A catamaran sail on the San Francisco Bay is my number one go to when I have friends coming to San Francisco that have never been here before. Inevitably they’re going to want to see Fisherman’s Wharf, so I know it’s always going to be a hit if I send them out on the bay to sail past Alcatraz and under the mighty Golden Gate.”

San Francisco Sailing Trips FAQs

What’s the difference between a catamaran and a REAL sailboat?

A catamaran has two hulls instead of one. The result is a more stable ride (like a Rolls Royce compared to a Dune Buggy).

Will I get seasick?

Probably not. Since we are a more stable ride most people don’t have any problems. If you are very susceptible, you may want to get a patch or seasick pills.

What should I wear?

Usually a pair of jeans, a tee shirt or sweatshirt, tennis shoes & a jacket is all you will need. Be sure to bring extra layers, the bay can be very windy.

What if I forget a jacket & it gets cold?

We have some jackets on board that you are welcome to use.

Do you have life jackets?

Yes, we have life jackets for kids and adults.

Can I bring a lunch?

We prefer that you don’t bring any food. We have beer, wine and soda for purchase. If you are on a private charter, you can pay a clean up fee & bring your own food. No outside beverages are allowed.

How far in advance should I book?

We strongly recommend you purchase tickets in advance as cruises often sell out quickly. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

No refunds for reservations cancelled less than 72 hours prior to departure time.

Will I get wet?

If you’re outside on the trampolines, there is a pretty good chance you’ll get wet. If you really don’t want to get wet, you can stay in the cabin. With a 360 degree view, you won’t miss a single thing.

Is the cabin heated?

Yes, the cabin is heated.

Who designed Adventure Cat 2?

Kurt Hughes Designs of Seattle.

How fast does the Adventure Cat 2 go?

Under sail, the average speed is 8-12 knots.
