Experience the quintessential San Francisco adventure on our guided Golden Gate Bridge tour, starting with a scenic ride from Fisherman’s Wharf. You will bike across the Golden Gate Bridge along the mostly flat 8-mile National Park Bike Path, passing through Fort Mason and the Presidio while learning local history from our expert guides. After you bike the Golden Gate Bridge, enjoy a thrilling downhill descent into the Mediterranean-style streets of Sausalito, where you’ll have free time to enjoy a world-class waterfront lunch.
In the afternoon, we trade our pedals for a comfortable mini-coach for a guided journey to Muir Woods National Monument. You’ll spend 90 minutes wandering through ancient groves of towering coastal redwoods before we head back to the city. To conclude your golden gate tour, you can return via our shuttle or upgrade to a golden gate bridge ferry tour for a picturesque cruise across the bay. Whether you join our guided group or choose the flexible self-guided bike golden gate bridge option, this tour offers the perfect blend of iconic city landmarks and natural California beauty.
If you prefer the freedom to explore at your own speed, our Self-Guided Bike option is the perfect choice. This allows you to customize your morning while still enjoying the full afternoon Muir Woods experience with our group.
Flexible Start: Pick up your bike at Blazing Saddles as early as 8:00 AM and before 11:30 AM. We recommend an early start to beat the crowds on the bridge and maximize your time by the waterfront.
The Route: Enjoy the iconic, mostly flat 8-mile journey through the Marina and across the Golden Gate Bridge without the structure of a group tour. Stop for as many photos as you like!
Lunch in Sausalito: By starting early, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy a world-class lunch at a local bistro or relax along the Mediterranean-style waterfront before the afternoon tour begins.
Important Timing: To ensure you have enough time to cross the bridge and reach our meeting point, the latest pickup at Blazing Saddles is 11:30 AM.
The Hand-Off: Simply meet our guide and the rest of the group at 2:00 PM at The Joinery in Sausalito. We’ll take your bike off your hands, and you’ll hop on our comfortable mini-coach for your guided afternoon adventure to Muir Woods.

You’ll cross the bridge on the bike path with stunning panoramic views of the city and bay, followed by a 10-minute downhill ride taking you right into the picturesque town of Sausalito

Are you ready to feel small beside a redwood? After a short ride to Muir Woods National Monument, you’ll step off the mini-coach into a wonderland of greenery. On our redwood tours from San Francisco, you’ll have an hour to 90 minutes to wander along the wooden boardwalks through the tallest species of tree in the world.
Due to the thick fog that blankets the west coast in the summer, redwoods only thrive in Northern California and Oregon. In 1908, Senator William Kent and his wife donated their land to the state and President Theodore Roosevelt designated it as a federally protected area.
Muir Woods is the only surviving stand of old-growth forest in the Bay Area. Wandering amongst these towering giants is sure to reconnect you with a natural world that was almost lost forever.
Free time in Sausalito – We will return via a short drive to Sausalito for 45 minutes to explore before returning to San Francisco. You can also choose to hop off the coach and take the ferry back to the city. Just choose the Add a Ferry option at checkout.
We’ll drop you off at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square just in time for dinner.
Take the ferry back to San Francisco* and spend more time exploring Sausalito at your own pace!
Sausalito is located to the north of the Golden Gate Bridge and began as a hub for car, ferry, and rail traffic to reach the city. After World War II, its industry focus shifted, transforming it into a wealthy and artistic residential and tourist area.
You can add the ferry tickets to your tour, and the driver will drop you off before heading back to the city. Simply choose the PLUS FERRY tour option during the check-out process, and the tickets will be provided to you on the tour.
Taking the ferry back from Sausalito will afford you amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, Alcatraz Island, and the San Francisco city skyline from the north. Don’t forget your jacket, though – it can get chilly out on the bay!
You’ll disembark the ferry in the Fisherman’s Wharf/Embarcadero area where you can easily hail a cab or take the cable car back to your hotel.
* Tickets are an additional $14.75 for all ages and are not included in the base tour price. Ferry return is subject to availability.
This tour is now available to book as a private excursion for up to 13 guests. You’ll receive the same itinerary and inclusions that our typical tour would provide, plus personal one-on-one attention from your guide and the ability to choose who you’ll bring with you.
