When you search for things to do in San Francisco, you will be bombarded with endless information about activities and attractions in the city. With so many activities to choose from, the possibilities are endless and a bit overwhelming. That’s why our team at Incredible Adventures has compiled a San Francisco two-day itinerary that highlights the best of the city in just 48 hours. Whether you are interested in museums, nature, or restaurant suggestions, we have you covered!
Day 1 in San Francisco
- Start your day bright and early on the Muir Woods and Sausalito Half-Day Tour, then take the ferry from Sausalito to Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf.
- For lunch, head over to Jefferson Street; there are endless options to choose from, including Alioto’s, Scoma’s, and Boudin Bakery. Boudin Bakery is a San Francisco staple known for Clam Chowder, and Bistro Boudin offers Dungeness crab served with buttery garlic goodness that is a must-try! If you want a casual lunch, see what catches your eye at the Seafood Stands and then sit on the waterfront benches and watch the boats go by while enjoying your meal.
- Explore all Pier 39 has to offer at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Musée Mécanique, Ripley’s Believe it or Not! and the Aquarium of the Bay. Don’t forget to stop and see the water-dwelling residents: the SF sea lions!
- A few blocks away is the famous Lombard Sreet, known for being one of the most crooked streets in the world and a perfect photo opportunity before dinner. Afterward, head into North Beach for an authentic Italian dinner at Sotto Mare.
- Are you looking for a drink to end the night? Maggie McGarry’s is the perfect place to reflect on your first day in San Francisco.
Day 2 in San Francisco
- Start the day by shopping around Union Square, then head to the Haight Ashbury neighborhood. You will be transported to the 1960s with the brightly colored murals and rich history of this area. Here you can see Janis Joplin’s House and Jimi Hendrix’s red house.
- Eat lunch at the Magnolia GastroPub before grabbing a coffee from FlyWheel and making your way to Golden Gate Park.
- At Golden Gate Park, you can explore the Botanical Gardens, the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Tea Garden, the Bison Paddock, the California Academy of Science, and the oldest museum in San Francisco, the de Young Museum.
- For dinner, check out the Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant or the Park Chalet on the west side of the park for fantastic ocean views with your dinner. This restaurant is the perfect place to toast an incredible 48 hours in San Francisco!
