Tour Guide

Sam’s connection to the outdoors began early. He grew up in the verdant Tualatin Valley, nestled near Oregon’s famed Wine Country. His parents instilled a love for nature through frequent camping trips, laying the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of the wilderness. Raised in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, he naturally gravitated towards its diverse landscapes. He honed his skills in backpacking, fishing, and hiking, gradually expanding his repertoire to include more adventurous pursuits like mountain climbing, biking, kayaking, and skiing.

His passion for outdoor exploration extended beyond personal enjoyment. While in college, Sam shared his enthusiasm with others, leading cross-country skiing and mountain biking tours for the City of Portland. This experience ignited a desire to explore further afield. Following his college years, he embarked on extensive travels, venturing across the Western United States, Europe, and Asia with friends. These journeys fueled his curiosity and deepened his understanding of different cultures and landscapes, a passion that continues to drive his adventures.

Today, Sam is excited to channel his extensive knowledge and experience into his role as an ICA tour guide. He is eager to share the wonders of Western America’s flora, fauna, and rich history with his tour groups. He aims to create memorable and enriching experiences for his guests, fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Outside of his guiding duties, Sam maintains a vibrant and fulfilling life. He finds solace and inspiration in music and photography, capturing the beauty of his surroundings. He also dedicates his time to volunteering efforts on the Oregon Coast, demonstrating his commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
