Lawton Bryant

Tour Guide

Lawton grew up in the rolling green hills of Nashville, Tennessee. He would have had a pretty normal childhood, if not for the fact that he grew up with two adventurous parents who loved to travel.

Though he didn’t view travel or the outdoors as a lifestyle until he got to college, the foundation was definitely laid early. Maybe what did it was the time a Park Ranger in Georgia placed an alligator on his head; or perhaps it was when he saw a wild octopus change colors in a tide pool near San Diego; or better yet, the time he won a staring contest with a coyote outside Lake Tahoe.

Regardless, by the time Lawton got to college in the mountains of East Tennessee, he was quickly drawn into adventure: backpacking, climbing, rafting – the works. He started guiding for his school Outdoor Program and doing wildlife conservation work whenever he could. Once he’d earned his degree in environmental science, he knew it was time to get out & go see everything there was to see.

Lawton has since been all over the US – and even walked the entire length of the Appalachian Trail. If there’s one thing he knows, it’s the immense & wonderful healing power of the outdoors, especially in California. He can’t wait to show you some of his favorite places, and hopes you’ll love them as much as he does!
