DAY 1 – San Francisco to South Lake Tahoe
Buckle up! After departing San Francisco, you’ll head through California’s capital city, Sacramento, through the Sierra foothills and into the famous Gold Rush Country, cresting a high mountain pass within the Sierra Nevadas. Then we’ll wind our way through large pine forests, before dramatically descending into South Lake Tahoe.
Once in Tahoe, stretch your legs on a short hike before settling down at your campsite. Tonight, grab dinner as a group and then watch the sunset over the crystal-clear waters of Lake Tahoe.
DAY 2 – Full Day Lake Tahoe
You’re up early to take advantage of a full day of on, in, or near Lake Tahoe. The calm mornings on the lake are the perfect time to enjoy a guided kayak tour (not included) or to beat the crowds and hike to a waterfall, around picturesque Emerald Bay or to the top of a mountain.
Spend the late afternoon exploring the shops of downtown South Lake Tahoe, gambling at the casinos in Nevada or enjoying a stroll around the lakes shoreline.
DAY 3 – Lake Tahoe to San Francisco
Enjoy another morning exploring Lake Tahoe by paddleboard, kayak, bicycle or on another hike. You’ll head north to the fun filled town of Truckee for a coffee or maybe some delicious craft brews. Next up you’ll leave the Sierra Nevada Mountains behind and pass through the state’s capital city, Sacramento. You’ll follow the historic Pony Express Trail through El Dorado National Forest back to the City by the Bay, San Francisco, and we’ll drop off at our gateway hotel by 9 p.m.
