Visit Sausalito on a Half-Day Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour, and extend your time in this beautiful place by choosing to take the ferry back to San Francisco! You can also Rent a Bicycle and pedal over the bridge to get there (and ferry back, if you choose)!
Sausalito is located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Developed rapidly as a shipbuilding center in World War II, the city’s industrial character gave way in postwar years to a reputation as an artistic enclave, as a picturesque residential community (incorporating large numbers of houseboats), and as a tourist destination. It is adjacent to, and largely bounded by, the protected spaces of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Entertaining and Informative
Our tour took us by bus to Muir Woods & then dropped us off in Sausalito where we caught a ferry back to the City. Our tour guide, John, was both entertaining and informative, which made the trip enjoyable. We were allowed to spend 90 minutes at Muir Woods…enough to whet our appetites to go back in the future… Catching the ferry back to Pier 39 was easy and the ride a treat. I recommend the bus over and ferry back to anyone going to Muir Woods & Sausalito.

Informative, Friendly, and Helpful
The staff were informative, friendly and helpful making the process very simple. They provided us with a map and showed us where to go. They also gave us the tickets for the return journey by ferry from Sausalito which we did not have to pay for if unused ($11). We biked the Golden Gate Bridge which was a lovely route, only 2 hills! Only downside was the fog over the bridge but sunny Sausalito more than made up for it. We were not expecting anything from Sausalito but it was a beautiful little town with shops, restaurants and galleries
